Ash Coning has been racing for the best part of 2 years now. He has raced in both Regional and National Series Youth Races where he has picked up over 15 podium finishes along with 2 incredible wins. Ash has also finished on the podium in Regional Hill Climb events along with taking the win at local hill climbs. Ash has had an incredibly well decorated 2016 road season, building on his already brilliant palmares, finishing on the podium in every race he started along with taking some impressive wins, most notably his 22 kilometer solo breakaway win at York in the White Rose Youth League, where he later finished 2nd overall in a series of 8 races across 3 months by a narrow margin of points. Ash is now focusing his attention to the Hill Climb series; having already taken his first hill climb win on the 24th of August by an incredible 29 seconds, Ash seems to be on some great form! Northern Ride wish Ash the very best of luck for the rest of the Hill Climb season as he races towards the ultimate goal of becoming National Hill Climb Champion!
In the last 14 months, Ash has managed to also gain some impressive Strava times on some of the worlds most iconic segments. In August of 2015 Ash climbed to 10th overall on the Strava leader board on Buttertubs Pass, behind the likes of Thibaut Pinot, Simon Yates and Marcus Burghardt. This August, Ash was away in France, where he conquered the Provence giant that is Mont Ventoux. Ash blasted to the top in 1:17:12, which put him 147th overall on the Strava segment out of 32,227 individual times, 32nd fastest u25 and fastest u16. The 2017 season looks promising for Young Ash, as he moves into the junior category with styles of racing much more suited to his physique and riding style. We wish Ash all the best for the rest of the season and wherever his bike takes him next!
