In addition the Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon is now in its second year, an endurance MTB event across 12,000 acres of private land, check it out from the link at the top of this page....
Kevin has over 25years experience in the aerospace industry working in design and problem solving for a globally revered UK company. Upon leaving the aerospace industry to pursue a secondary career in his later life passion of cycling, Kevin first of all ran a shop that helped grow Lapierre into a dominant mountain bike brand in the UK when the Zesty won back to back bike of the year awards.
Kevin is Cytech qualified and authorised by Fox to service and repair suspension systems, however his previous experience means we also service all major suspension systems. In addition to been a keen MTB'r Kevin has also received Campagnolo Pro status after the high demand of Campagnolo builds on our custom Italian framesets.
In terms of riding Kevin currently rides his all mountain bike the Yeti SB4.5 T-Series build finished with a Float 34 fork and Sram Eagle on dry days over the moors. He has an all round cross country mountain bike in the carbon hardtail Scapin Oraklo finished in XT 2x11 and a Fox 32 Factory Series Fork. Kevin's road bike is the new Kuota Kryon with Ultegra Di2 and Miche SWR wheelset, bright green! The secret of Kev's riding though is his beloved single speed and rigid mountainbike that you may see him riding out on the trails.....
Ashley's original passion for cycling started out as with many from riding with family and friends. At a junior age Ash raced in the National XC mountain bike series and gained sponsorship in the UK via Orbea, CNP and Vittoria. After attending University in Leeds Ash opened Northern Ride in collaboration with Kevin, his father. Ash has since become one of the only people in the UK that has trained with both Eric O'Reilly of cyclingposition.cm and Paul Swift of bikefit.com two of the leading independent bike fit specialists in the world.
After gaining experience bike fitting, Ash now has collaborates with Sarto, Epoca and Scapin to design custom geometry bicycles by looking at your current setup, taking biomechanical measurements and using our bike fit jig to assess your perfect setup. Ash will then work with your desired custom brand to create a geometry that is suitable to your fit yet does not compromise the design and innovation in the chosen frameset. Ash has now conducted hundred's of bike fits and worked on numerous custom geometry framesets from customers around the UK and at a distance in Qatar, Dubai and the USA.
In terms of riding Ash currently rides an Epoca R60 custom geometry frameset finished with Campagnolo Super Record and Bora wheelset although he is striving for a THM Chainset! Ash is usually found on his Focus Mares Cyclocross bike and currently races at the Yorkshire Points series alongside Regional and National B road races. Ash has also ridden most trail centres in the UK and knows Majorca well if anybody needs advice on an upcoming trip! However Ash's secret love is the shop demo Focus Jam2 E-MTB which he utilises when preparing for our Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon or on the local terrain.
Ash is our youngest part time member at the shop. Ash currently races for N-Fuse Identity, an U23/Junior team in the UK that race on Epoca RS99 framesets and Miche components. Ash races the national junior series as a second year junior and last season raced in a UCI 3 day race in Italy in which his team had a stage victory. Ash also enjoys hill climbing.......hence the name Little Ash as you have to be super light! Ash's hill climb bike is an Epoca R30 and weighs a secretly low amount but drop us an email and you can come and see it!
